WorkForce Housing
What is Workforce Housing?
Workforce housing provides affordable rental options for individuals and families who earn moderate incomes but may still face challenges finding suitable housing in their community. This housing is designed to support essential workers such as teachers, healthcare providers, first responders, retail employees, and others who contribute to the vitality and growth of the local economy.
Rental rates for workforce housing are set according to a percentage of the area’s median income (AMI), ensuring that residents can access stable, quality homes without compromising their ability to afford other everyday essentials like transportation, healthcare, and childcare.
Workforce housing is made possible through collaborative efforts, including public-private partnerships, efficient development practices, and innovative funding solutions. While these homes are not part of project-based subsidy programs like Section 8, they may accept housing vouchers if the rental rate requirements are met.
By offering workforce housing, we are helping build a balanced and thriving community where local workers can live, work, and grow — enhancing overall quality of life for everyone.
